Bug in IE and Firefox with sadbox Kaspersky 2010 (KIS)
Published on January 10, 2010 By hawamusic In WindowBlinds

Hi, I would point out a display bug when using the Sandbox Kaspersky Internet Security 2010. I use version 7.01 build 235 Windowblinds and my system is Windows 7. I show you a screenshot of the bug in IE below. (Note: the problem is the same in Firefox)

The image apears to only be viewable for people who are logged into Kasperskys website.

Ok many that should be good: I put the screenshot in my ftp. Sorry for this problem.

Ok, I see the issue.

The problem is with Kaspersky sandboxing I am afraid.  The sandboxing has prevented WB from communicating with WBSrv which is responsible for theme loading.  I.e. it is breaking WBs function.  WB uses named pipes for this.

yes I also think that the problem comes from there. More and more security software using the sandbox, in my opinion you will also be increasingly confronted with this problem.

On the forum of Kaspersky they give me a tip: to exclude IE and Firefox in Windowblinds. The problem is that the appearance is the same as Windows 2000

With a previous sandboxing app the developers added an exception for the WB named pipe which enabled WB to continue functioning fine.

I don't know if users can manually add exceptions to the sandbox for specific named pipes in Kaspersky or not as it isn't an app I use.  We will see about contacting Kaspersky directly to ask them to add an exception.

Personally I don't think sandboxing apps like that are worthwhile.  IE already has its own user level restriction system on Windows 7 which works just fine already.

the principle of using the sandbox KIS 2010 is to place (or not) of applications that you want to start in protected environment. The only filtering is possible at present is in Windowblinds but as I said in my previous post appearance will be minimal.

Thank you to you for your responses. I'll wait for your contact Kaspersky.

A new message informing you that I post a topic in the official forum of Kaspersky but after a few exchanges moderator decided to delete the subject without any explanation.

I posted 2 screenshots: 1 Bug in IE and another bug in Firefox. Second, and just before the subject was removed I had reported tested the software DefenseWall (he also uses the technology of the Sandbox) + Windowblinds and that in this configuration everything works properly. Maybe they did not like that I mean that.

The methods of the moderator are worthy of a dictatorship. His 1st board was telling me to uninstall Windowblinds as unnecessary. I am not talking about Kaspersky in general (I'll call them tomorrow by phone to inform them) but this person has forgotten one important detail: I bought 3 licenses for Kaspersky Internet Security 2010 and he owes me some respect.

Thank you for your interests.
